What we look at before we quote
Rear glass seldom breaks alone. A fall hard enough to shatter the back has usually done something else too, and pricing the glass without checking is how one repair becomes two. Before any price is agreed, and at no cost, we check:
- the frame, because a bend stops a new panel from sitting flush
- the camera lens covers, which can crack separately from the main panel
- wireless charging, since the coil sits right under the glass
- the rear cameras, for cracked lenses or debris that has already got in
- any sign of liquid getting in through the crack, which changes the job completely
You get our findings and the price together. If the phone is better left as it is, we tell you that too.
How your model changes the repair
From the iPhone 12 onwards, Apple redesigned the rear assembly so the glass can be freed from the chassis with a laser, which makes a glass-only repair practical. On the iPhone 8, X, XS, XR and 11 the glass is bonded to the frame much more aggressively, and clearing every fragment cleanly is slow work, so on those models a new housing is sometimes the sounder repair even though it sounds like the bigger one.
That is why this page has no price table. One figure across fourteen generations would either overcharge most people or promise a price we couldn't keep.
Until it's repaired
Run clear tape across the cracks. It holds the fragments together, stops cracks creeping out from the corners, and keeps the glass from cutting you or lifting off in a pocket. Avoid wireless charging in the meantime: a raised fragment over the coil traps heat.
If the crack crosses the camera bump, don't rely on that camera for anything important. Glass dust works its way into the lens assembly, and a new back won't undo damage there.

We collect the phone free, inspect it, and send you our findings with the price. The repair is done at our workshop, then the phone is tested and brought back to you at no charge. Each stage shows on repair tracking, and your repair's warranty is shown before you confirm, as set out in our warranty policy.

Why isn't back glass on the price list?
Because it isn't the same job on every iPhone. From the iPhone 12 onwards the rear glass can be separated from the chassis with a laser; on the iPhone 8 to 11 it is bonded far more firmly, and on some models the soundest repair is a new housing rather than glass alone. We inspect the phone free and tell you which applies, along with its price.
Does a cracked back really need repairing?
It isn't urgent like a failing screen, but it isn't purely cosmetic either. A crack across the camera bump spoils photos, gaps let dust and moisture past the seal, and the next drop spreads the cracks from the corners. Loose glass can also cut you.
Will wireless charging still work?
It should. The charging coil sits under the glass and stays in the phone. If wireless charging had already stopped before the repair, tell us when you book so we check the coil while the phone is open rather than blaming it on the new glass.
Can you replace just the camera lens cover?
Often, yes, and it is a smaller job than the main rear panel. If only the little cover over the cameras is cracked, say so when you book: we check whether that alone can be changed before quoting for the whole back.
Will the phone still be water resistant?
Opening any phone breaks its factory seal. We reseal what we open, but no repaired phone should be relied on to its original water-resistance rating, and that is true wherever it is repaired.
